Competition Theme

Smart Cities. The World Health Organization states that the world's urban population is expected to double by 2050. Such an increase in population can only be supported by innovation in order to be sustainable. Our country Singapore is seeking for good ideas to enhance sustainable growth and improve the quality of life of the citizens.

One example of a smart city product that our SMU alumni has created: Protag* is a smart device that prevents the loss of valuables by connecting it to mobile phone. In the event when your valuables are left behind accidentally, you will be alerted before any unwanted incidents arise.

Stand a chance to win up to $20,000 in cash prizes!

Learn more about the winning teams from the previous edition!

Junior Category: Team "The Zelter" from Outram Secondary School, designed a water and fire resistant portable tent - the size of a backpack - which features an inbuilt solar-power system that powers light, a heat generator and a charging port for electronic devices. There is also a water filtration system to ensure access to clean water.

Senior Category: Team "Re-Life" from ITE College Central clinched the top position. The team has worked closely with physiotherapists to develop a multi-purpose equipment that reduces rehabilitation cost for stroke patients and inconvenience to caregivers, as well as promote continuous rehabilitation in the patient’s home.

“The demands of the competition really require students to think big and work together. The panel of judges is impressive and they give constructive feedback and ask relevant questions. The prizes are very attractive.”
