About Us
The Knowledge Transfer and Commercialisation (KTC) unit at the Institute of Innovation & Entrepreneurship (IIE) plays crucial role in facilitating the transfer of research and intellectual property from SMU to the industry. KTC support the faculty members and researchers in the following ways:
Intellectual Property (IP) Management
Licensing
Commercialise SMU Innovation and Enable Spin-Off Creation
- Evaluate & support commercialisation efforts by SMU Researchers with the help
of MOE Decentralised Gap Funding (MDGF) - Enable technology through market discovery & proof-of-concept projects to go closer to the market
- Offer business friendly licensing terms to researchers who wish to start a company(spin-off)
- Make IIE’s BIG incubation ecosystem accessible to spin-offs to sustain as a start-up
In summary, KTC acts as a bridge between SMU and industry, facilitating the transfer of knowledge and technology for the benefit of society while also generating revenue for the university.
