Xander SIM was Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of two startups namely, Cell-ID and i3.lab in Singapore. At Cell-ID, he developed the world-first point-of-care molecular diagnostic using biochip-based PCR technology. He led the R&D, system integrations, product engineering, and regulatory compliance to launch the product in 2020. Xander co-founded i3.lab dedicated to optics-related technology development, shaping its vision and direction to develop advanced LED technology for automotive applications. And collaborations with Honeywell scanning and Imaging to develop Liquid-lens technology, among others. 

Prior to his startups experience, Xander was Group Managing Director, Polygon Precision PL, Singapore overseeing all activities and P&L for a conglomerate in Singapore and China managing business portfolio in ultra-high precision tooling for connectors serve clients like Molex, Tyco, FCI among others, automotive, medical and optics-related applications. He was Senior Consultant at Philips CFT in Singapore and offered his expertise and guidance in the industrials sector, driving technological advancements and process improvements for diverse industries. Leveraging his deep-tech expertise and knowledge of industrial automations and consumer electronics to identify growth opportunities and foster innovation. He was the Asia manager for NPI in Lucent Power overseeing new product introductions, research and development, contract manufacturing and supply chain management activities.  

Xander was Global Director of R&D and Advanced Manufacturing Engineering at JIT Electronics PL from 1985 to 2000. He held various senior leadership roles within this prominent Singapore contract manufacturing company. Leading global R&D and engineering teams, he was instrumental in driving technological advancements and fostering innovation in the electronics manufacturing sector. His strategic planning and execution efforts resulted in expanding JIT's OEM/ODM product portfolio, leading to increased market share and revenue growth, ultimately culminating in JIT's successful listing on SGX in 1997. Spearheading engineering operations across 7 factories and 2 R&D centres in various countries that led to the acquisition by Flextronics, now Flex for S$1 billion in the year 2000. 

Xander's innovative achievements are reflected in five granted and commercialised patents in technologies like DC Heater, Fluidic chip, Digital PCR, Disposable Test Kit, and Method & Apparatus for Data-collection. These technologies are protected in major jurisdictions like US, Europe, Asia and Africa. He was also co-inventor of the world's first automotive LED headlamp technology, which utilizes only one 10W LED to power the low-beam headlamp. 

Xander has a degree of Master of Science with merits from the University of Liverpool.
