Distinguished Speaker Series, Design For a Black & White World.

Arunachalam Muruganantham, a mechanic turned visionary entrepreneur from South India, will share his experiences in re-engineering a machine to produce low cost sanitary napkins that is set to revolutionize the lifestyle of several hundreds of millions of women in rural India.

His machine is so easy to use that it requires only 3 hours of training. Instead of profiting for himself, he chose to sell these machines to women from rural India almost at cost, with a view towards creating one million new jobs.

His desire to create one million jobs through the sale of his machines is truly inspirational as an example of social entrepreneurship. His innovation is an outstanding example of Bottom of the Pyramid innovations and Mr. Muruganantham received an award from the President of India for his innovation.
