Entrepreneurship Lunch Talk - Western & Oriental Business Cultures, to understand and to be understood

As the world has gone borderless, and the centre of gravity is slowly but surely shifting from the West to the East, many of the American and European MNCs have made significant investments in many Asian countries, in the hope to capture more businesses. Some made it well, and some don’t.

Vice versa is also true that many Asian’s MNCs are taking advantage of her own strength and rich assets to expand overseas, through merger and acquisition. Some find it difficult, and many have limited success.

What are the characteristics of the Western and Oriental culture? How do the West view business contract compare to the East? Is humbleness a reflection of sincerity or a lack of confidence? Is a gift or a sumptuous dinner an acceptable way to build relationship? Would you accept a business deal when I tell you I could not make money?

Answers would be provided.
