(Left to Right): Karen Mok, Regional Manager of Seedstars World with Jimmy Lui, Founder of Couper 11 Dec 2015 - Couper a platform that helps mobile games monetize non-paying users with in-app marketplace purchases and mini reward games. A current SMU Business Innovations Generator (BIG) incubating startup, co-founded by Jimmy Lui & Narmeet Singh. Couper achieved an unexpected victory by nabbing the grand prize at Seedstars World held at Singapore Management University recently. Seedstars World is the largest startup competition that scouts for the most innovative tech startups in over 50 countries for the opportunity to compete for $1.5mn in investments. The 10 finalists this year were BestTop Consulting Pte Ltd, Couper Pte Ltd, DXMarkets, Epicurio Pte Ltd, Execuvite Pte Ltd, IvestaCrowd, Lim Peh Pte Ltd, Sendhelper, SmartPesa and Stockflock. In March 2016, Couper will be representing Singapore to compete with other finalist startups from around the globe during the Seedstars Summit in Switzerland this spring. In preparation for the finals, Couper will be focusing on improving their platform in order to gain and increase more traction. As their tagline connotes, Couper will focus in re-defining the in-app marketplace purchases in Southeast Asia. To achieve that goal, they are looking to hire marketing or business development students. We wish them all success! Siezing an opportunity “Everything happens so fast, we found out about Seedstars world and signed up on the last day of application. After 2 weeks, they emailed us that we got selected to be one of the finalists. We were lucky as the finals was near our SMU Demo day so everything is still "fresh" in our mind.” “Even though the finals in Singapore was over pretty fast, we still managed and got to know a lot of people from VCs (venture capitalist) to startup founders and mentors alike. If I were to recommend, startups should take part in events like this!” “I would also like to thank Institute of Innovation & Entrepreneurship (IIE) for all the support they have given us! It is awesome to be part of SMUBIG” – Jimmy Lui Source:;;;
