SMU School of Accountancy graduate Siddiq Poh’s start-up “Heartland Chefs” was featured in Channel 8 news. “Heartland Chefs” is a social enterprise platform for people to buy and sell home cooked food. It aims to provide a source of income for stay home mums, housewives, caregivers or simply anyone who has a passion for cooking, as well as to foster greater social and cultural interaction within communities and residents. Mr Poh noted that under the Small Scale Business Scheme by HDB and URA, homeowners can now prepare small amounts of small at home to sell to their friends and family without a food establishment license. Currently, there are about 40 home chefs who have joined this platform.
