The Gift of Education - Sowing Seeds of Progress
Officially opened on 2 August 2025, the Jay & Marilyn Ng Greenhouse is a dynamic hub designed for collaboration, networking, and continuous learning. It is a dedicated space where SMU students, faculty, and alumni can fully immerse themselves in the world of innovation and entrepreneurship. Through a lively calendar of signature events including workshops, mixers, demo days and pitch nights, the Jay & Marilyn Ng Greenhouse connects our community with changemakers from across Asia and the world, with the ultimate goal of catalysing new ventures that transform lives and communities.
All this is made possible through the generosity of Ng Jen Wei (Jay) and Tay Yue Koon (Marilyn).
Ng Jen Wei (Jay) is the Chief Financial Officer and Head of Strategic Business Development for Vitol Asia Pte Ltd. He is a director of Vitol Group’s board and member of Vitol Group’s Executive Advisory Committee. Jay is also a member the Advisory Board of Lee Kong Chian School of Business, Singapore Management University.
Tay Yue Koon (Marilyn) is the CEO and Managing Director AV Strategic Management Pte Ltd. Marilyn has extensive experience in audit, risk management and advisory services, having worked for various top companies like PricewaterhouseCoopers, Ernst & Young, Keppel Corporation and OCBC Bank.
Having started from humble roots, both Jay and Marilyn fully appreciate that the lack of financial resources can often deprive young and talented individuals of opportunities to further their studies and pursue their dreams.
The couple is grateful for their blessings and are motivated to provide others with such similar opportunities. This gift to SMU is in celebration of their silver jubilee wedding anniversary and part of their Gift of Education – Sowing the Seeds of Progress journey. The couple sincerely hopes that these individuals can pursue their goals and contribute to society and to the development of Singapore.
